Paris est magnifique!

Bonjour petit-enfants,

Je suis allée à Paris aujourd'hui avec Flat Noah et Flat Ava. Nous avions beaucoup d'amusement!

We started the day on the London tube VERY early before anyone else was awake. Then we transferred to the EuroStar train. It went under the ground and the English Channel and came out on the other end in France. We had breakfast on board and decided it was a great way to travel.

When we got to Paris we went first to see Notre Dame cathedral with its many sculptures on the front. The cathedral is located on an island in the middle of the Seine River which flows through Paris...just like the Thames River flows through London.

After seeing the cathedral, we walked to the Louvre Museum to see the glass pyramid. We went inside and walked some more. The pyramid and the museum are also very big.

Then we walked up a very long boulevard (a boulevard is a very wide street) called the Champs d'Elysees, saw all the stores and had French onion soup for lunch. It was delicious.

After having lunch, we kept walking, saw the Arch de Triumphe and, finally, the Eiffel Tower! I still think the Eiffel Tower is the most fun to see. It's soooo big and I can't wait for you both to see it for yourselves. I want to take you for the ride up to the top.

Ask your Mom how much fun that was!

Cathedral & Double Decker Bus

Hi Guys!

I went to a VERY large church today (very big churches are called cathedrals). It's very old too, almost 400 years old. Inside the ceiling is so high you almost can't see the decorations that are painted on it. There was a concert being given by a choir when I went in, so I sat and listened. It was very beautiful and peaceful.

I was trying to get a good photo of a double decker bus, but they were too fast for me. There a A LOT of them here. I'll keep trying and get a good photo for you to see.

I'm off to Paris tomorrow and am taking Flat Noah and Flat Ava with me. I'm sure they'll like the Eiffel Tower.

Along the River Thames

Hi Noah & Ava!
I spent ALL DAY walking around the river in London today. There are wide paths (sort of like bicycle trails) on both sides and lots of bridges so you can cross from side to side. One of the bridges is called the Millennium Bridge and is just for people to walk on...no cars allowed.

Flat Noah and Flat Ava posed for my first photo of them with the most famous London bridge in the background. It's called the Tower Bridge because it's right beside a building called the "Tower of London". The Tower of London isn't a tower at all but a very large low building that used to be a prison where they put enemies and bad people.

Tell your Mom to check out Facebook for more of my photos.

London, Day 1

Hi Noah & Ava (Mom and Dad too!)!

Greetings from London. I flew on the airplane for 7 hours, then took a train for another hour and finally arrived at the house where I'm staying. The cool part about the train was that sometimes it traveled underground and sometimes on top. I liked being above ground better because I could see all the houses. Most of them had little vegetable and flower gardens in the back.

The house where I'm staying has a very pretty backyard too with lots of flowers. There are Spring flowers called daffodils growing all over here. They're bright yellow and smell very nice.

I went for a walk by the Thames River, which goes all through London. It was very windy but had lots of pretty trees and more yellow flowers called "forsythia". I had lunch at a place called a "pub". I found out that pub is a short name for "public house". A public house is a place where people from the neighborhood, who didn't have big houses, could come to eat and drink and entertain friends. It was very cozy and had good food.

It's time for me to go now. I'll write more tomorrow.
